Avast wont update!!

I had this problem too, with updates stopping after exactly the same number of bytes.  I have Win XP using Windows Firewall and a Three 3G mobile broadband dongle.  Avast had been updating happily for years and even since I started with mobile broadband early in December.  I womder what it was about the update and Three mobile broadband that made all of our updates stop in exactly the same place.

Hope they answer officially. I'm empty and have read a lot of users with partial download updates that can't do anything better...

Personally, I have a hard time believing it's connected to avast!... sounds like a problem with the connection / network drivers (or even network hardware) to me.

The problem is that more users are posting about incomplete updates... that's a mystery until now...

I got round it by uninstalling Avast and installing the latest version.  It's an interesting one though.

Very interesting, I wouldn't have though that there was any part of the previous program version you had (which was ?) none of the changes in the latest program update should have any interaction like which might repair any previous modem connection issue, weird.

The main thing is that things are working for you now.
Perhaps this might help others, assuming they haven't already got the latest version, but a clean reinstall has been known for whatever reason to resolve some mysterious issues.

I got round it by uninstalling Avast and installing the latest version.  It's an interesting one though.

It does not solve the mystery, although it solved your problem...
