Is my avast up to date?

Hi,

I have made a program update a few days ago and since then I have not seen any notification of avast automatic updates.

When I make a manual update, I get the following message:

Total time: 8 s

- Program: Already up to date
  (current version 4.8.1296)
- Vps: Already up to date
  (current version 081224-0)

Is it up to date, has avast now started updating silently?

Anyway thanks a lot to the avast team, avast just saved my PC from an infected E card yesterday.

Your installation (program and virus database) are updated.
How is avast set in your computer? To automatic, to ask or to manual update?

I don't know exactly but it usually updates itself automatically for VPS and I get the notification "Virus database has been updated" accompanied by the audio.
As for program updates, it asks for permission.
Anyway, it would warn me if it is not able to update, so there is nothing to worry I guess.
Perhaps it updated itself when someone else was using the PC.
