Is Avast blocking the creation of restore points in System Restore?
(Win XP SP2; Avast 4.8. 1296)

System Restore is working fine on my XP SP3 systems.

SP3 has been available for 6 months and contains several security enhancements.

I just made a new restore point without a problem nor interference from avast.

But, like YoKenny, I am also on SP3 ... though I recall no such problem on SP2 neither.

Hi, Skip.
I can't see how Avast would be doing that. Can you confirm that you have system restore enabled, and that no services that might be required have been "tweaked" (ie: disabled)?
Windows 10,Windows Firewall,Firefox w/Adblock.

There were reports (http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=33391) of an incompatibility of the avast self protection module and the System Restore feature (Windows XP/Vista) in earlier versions of Avast. Has this incompatibility re-appeared in v. 4.8.1296?

I don't think so. This problem - need to disable avast self defense module to use system restore - was already solved quite some versions ago.
