avast crash when scan recycle folder in NTFS partition
« on: December 30, 2008, 06:10:59 PM »
When I scan $Recycle.Bin folder under NTFS partition, avast always crash with "Segmentation fault". Then I cannot scan from the root that partition, I have to scan folder by folder.
Is there any way to avoid that crash?

Thanks!

If on Mac:
Have you tried the new Beta engine? Lots of things have been fixed since the last release.

If On Linux:
Have you updated to the new 1.2.0 release?

I am using 1.2 on Linux. It may cause by monsters in the recycle, because it is okay to scan $Recycle.Bin folder in another NTFS partition.

There is no more information provided in avast logging. Finally, I format that partition.

Thanks, .:Mac:.

Hallo,
have you tried those release candidates? if the bug still occurs, please, use cmdline scanner (avast, instead of avastgui), and determine where (exactly) it crashes.
