Do you use any other antivirus in your computer?

Can you try to repair your installation?
Go to Control Panel > Add/Remove programs > avast! antivirus > Remove. Then choose Repair function in the popup window (Repair).
If this does not help, can you uninstall / boot / install / boot again?

This problem is already fixed with version 4.8.1282 and higher.
Uninstall avast in safe mode with aswClear:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast-uninstall-utility.html
Then restart and install the latest version. The green download.com link on our site still has old version, so download setup directly by clicking on the black download link below.

That is surely up to download.com and not avast, of course they could remove the download.com icon link, but that would mean someone would have to monitor the version on download.com to ensure it is the same as the current one.

Personally I don't know why they have the link (save bandwidth perhaps) but it is also only the English version of avast at download.com.
Windows 10 Home 64bit/ Acer Aspire F15/ Intel Core i5 7200U 2.5GHz, 8GB DDR4 memory, 256GB SSD, 1TB HDD/ avast! free 24.3.6108 (build 24.3.8975.762) UI 1.0.801/ Firefox, uBlock Origin, uMatrix/ MailWasher Pro/ Avast! Mobile Security

I understand, but it's ridiculous that starting from avast site (even redirected), the user does not get the latest version...
