Computer Freezes
« on: May 03, 2004, 08:18:01 PM »
As I posted last Friday

My computer freezes following installation of the newest version of Avast for Home

I have Win 98

I started in Safe mode and made sure any old anti virus was not there or had been uninstalled

I uninstalled Spybots, also

Can anyone help!

I can only access internet from my computer at work so I will be checking when I can

Lost without my home computer

TL,

Why didn't you just uninstall Avast?
What was the old antivirus you removed?
If it was Norton, then the odds are you didn't get it all out.

We'll fix it.  Let me know.

Some more info would be useful... when exactly does your computer freeze? Does the freeze occur every time, always in the same moment?

Yes, it was Norton from several years ago

And I have heard that it is nearly impossible to uninstall everything fr Norton

But I looked thru and didn't see anything, but I'm a novice

I don't want to uninstall Avast but I could

If you can fix it please let me know

Thank you

Go Here:
http://www.symantec.com/techsupp/support_options.html

Choose the Free Automated Support and then just answer the questions.
Since I don't know exactly which Product you had installed, I can't get any closer on the URL
Good Luck

hello, T Landsaw :)

also do a search with NAV Technical as the subject and mark Avast Home/Pro and General Topics and it will give you two guides for complete removal of NAV from your system...
I used NAV and it took alot of work to get rid of it!
Don't be afraid to ask for help...many here are experts at helping you do this--and I speak from personal experience ;D

good luck...
