Who has experience with this add-on for Fx or Flock?
« on: January 27, 2009, 01:48:39 AM »
Hi malware fighters,

People know that polunus likes his browsers best personalized. Could be for anti-malware or privacy reasons or both, but I like to use ABP, Perspectives, RequestPolicy and NoScript.
Someone ever installed this: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5230
karma blocker is a combination of ABP and RequestPolicy and blocks according to degrees of nuisance to the browser user. Like the idea, but does it work?

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

Hi malware fighters,

As no one has reacted so farm, I installed and tested it myself. By the way the k@rma of this site is OK.

Installation: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/5230 (never download firefox add-ons/skins from other sites, you can even help yourself to political spam messages, if you use this:
hxxp://kasteo.deviantart.com/art/Noia-2-0-eXtreme-For-Firefox-4266778 you will see this http://www.xs4all.nl/~pgv123/mozilla/mozilla.jpg (dump of this)

So first there was the adblocker, then we had ABP and now I have arrived at k@rma Blocker!
Block nuisances on the basis of the bad k@rma they have build up. The solution? k@rma Blocker, at approximately one fifteenth of the size, which sports the following features:

    * Request-time blocking of any resource. (Blocked objects never load, never use bandwidth, never set cookies.)
    * k@rma (or score) based weighting of objects, similar to popular spam filtering solutions like SpamAssasin.
    * A flexible expression language for powerful filtering, on a richer set of data than simply "the URL".
    * Global function injection; if a script is blocked, yet functions in it are still called, injecting a blank function of the same name will eliminate any errors.

Operation

Every time Firefox begins to load any resource (page, image, style sheet, javascript file, etc.) k@rma Blocker will first check it against the rules it is configured to use. If the rules match that request, it will be denied and never load. There are certain exceptions:

    * When k@rma Blocker is disabled (and the status bar icon is greyed out), all requests will be allowed.
    * When the resource is not from one of the schemes http, https, ftp, chrome, all requests will be allowed.
    * Three different checks are made to ensure that resources that form part of the browser itself (i.e. the back/forward buttons, icons, etc.) are never blocked.

Click the icon in the status bar to globally enable/disable k@rma Blocker.

I like to have this add-on inside Fx next to firekeeper, Perspectives, NoScript and RequestPolicy,
I think my malware and privacy issues are taken care of that way, by the way the k@rma of this Site is OK.
One disadvantage: Is there a flashblocker in KarmaBlocker?

How to monitor the elements that can earn karma, allow NoScript for (part) of the site in question, allow reguests in RequestPolicy, launch monitor and most of the items checked have 0 karma, below you can read the total score. Avast webforum total adds up to 0.
