Avast and Vista
« on: February 06, 2009, 01:35:10 AM »
I have installed avast and it does it's boot scan and all that but when all that is done and I log into windows, there is no blue I and A icons but my firewall asks me if I should let web shield connect so I know it is sort of working. I do have a desktop icon for avast. What is happening?

Check to see that ashdisp.exe is listed as trusted in D+.  Probably should trust all of the ashxxx.exe and aswxxx.exe processes just in case.

Also make sure ashdisp.exe is actually running, since that is where the icons come from.  The routines usually running for avast! are shown in the attachment, but may vary a bit depending on the providers you are using.
