Well, A format just wipes everything. Nothing will live, Until a few years from now *Well, I think so anyway*

It is probably a fairly guaranteed way to eliminate malware, but from the security standpoint, from what I've read (never tried) a formatted drive can still have data recovered from it, using the correct software.

hi,using an imaging program such as acronis ti,paragon drive backup,macrium,ect is much quicker than a reformat plus you wouldn't have to reinstall programs,updates ect.*that's assuming a person has made regular backup images** hope this helps,tim
