The resident protection by its name doesn't have to be run it starts on boot, you don't have to do anything.
Why do you feel you need to do this ?
What avast processes are running in Task Manager, they begin with ash or asw, see image ?

I would suggest you modify your post, removing your email, unless you like spam. The forums are publicly available and email addresses could be harvested by a bot.
