Keyboard mouse stop responding after first keypress
« on: February 03, 2009, 07:25:55 AM »
I'm trying out Avast! BART CD and from what I've seen - it looks very nice and promising.

I've used it one three machines so far and on two of them I've had a very odd result.  I ran both the antivirus and registry clean options off the BART CD.

Once complete, and removing what's found, I reboot into Windows as normal.  However, when the first key is pressed on the keyboard - both the keyboard and mouse stop responding even though the machine is still running.  I can access the machine over the network by ping and network shares.  The machine will not lock up if I just use the mouse.  Again, as soon as the first key is pressed on the keyboard - the keyboard and mouse stop responding.

This happens in safe mode as well.

I've tried an in place install - no luck.

The keyboard works inside Hiren's, ERD or other environments - just not Windows.

Any help would be appreciated.
