How to boot scan in vista 64 bit?
« on: February 12, 2009, 05:37:29 PM »
I know currently 64 bit is not supported for boot time scans which stinks, but I read that the bart cd would let you do that and that's why I got it. Now dumb question, once I boot from the cd were would I go to do the boot time scan? I read that maybe in avast 5 edition it will be supported but only bart cd would work for now so that's why I got it. Just stupid on how to use it thanks... ;D

Well I don't believe you go anywhere, rather run the scan from the BART CD (bootable), which is I assume running in Windows PE (which is in the Bart CD I believe), so it is effectively outside your standard windows version.

I don't have the Bart CD so I don't speak from experience.

There's no "boot-time scan" in BART CD - that wouldn't make much sense.
I believe what the suggestions meant was that, as David said, when booting from a CD, the operating system isn't started from disk - so any malware, possibly installed in the system, doesn't have any chance to run.
