-= Spybot S&D <== has outlived its usefulness
-= A squared <== does it still have many False Positives?
-= Spyware terminator <== has anti virus application that could interfere with avast!
-= Ad-Aware <== has outlived its usefulness and is just a waste of hard drive space
-= Hijack This <== only required for special occasions but it is good to have installed

The av service in Spyware Terminator is either optional at installation (does not have to be installed) or can be disabled once installed. It is ClamAV and can be used as an on-demand scanner should it be installed.

Spybot S&D is not completely useless. It's TeaTimer module is useful for registry protection should some malware tries to alter the registry. Spybot also detects many of the malware that is currently infecting too many computers.

I prefer WinPatrol and it does not have a slow scan mode to detect and remove malware.

You prefer WinPatrol and I prefer Spybot. It is an individual choice each of us makes. But, I have never said WinPatrol was not useful.

Just because someone prefers one program over another does not make the other program useless.

Just curious, but WinPatrol does the same thing as Super Anti-Spyware and Mal-ware Bytes Anti-Malware? By "does the same thing" I am not saying that they are identical but simply want to know if they serve the same purpose.

Also, If you'll allow me to throw my two cents in, I have so far experimented with a few Anti-Spyware and anti-malware software and I find that apart from taste it's also a question of what best suits your means and needs (i.e. you wont install a resource hungry antivirus on a resource starved computer nor will you install a huge security suit if you only use your computer for surfing the web  and document editing).

That's at least my opinion. I still did not find what best suits me (apart from Vast that has yet to fail me) but nothing is set in stone and even if I do find something, in the end something else will replace it.

Cheers

On access I suggest none... I'll keep only avast.
On demand, well, MBAM and SuperAntispyware could be a good choice.

@chronoboi001: Yes, of course, I'm totally agree with you at:

I did install and try the Spyware terminator, it was interesting, just I don't like the IE Toolbar and removed that. but I did keep the software :) Thanks for offering that, my friend! ;)
