Avast! On-Access Scanner
« on: February 14, 2009, 09:15:37 PM »
Hey when i check on the On access scanner it says that it has found 22 infected files, i was wondering how to get rid of those files because i use avast and i scan my comp but it doesn't find any.  The place it found the files was in the network shield.  What do i need to do to get rid of the files?

If they were truly found by the network shield then they aren't files on your system, so it isn't any surprise that you didn't find anything. The network shield blocks access to malicious sites or attempts by malware to access your system using normal exploit ports.

Check the Network Shield, Customize, Last Attacks tab, see image example, this lists these attacks/attempts.

If they were detected in the normal scans then this would be what to look for:
What is the infected file name, where was it found e.g. (C:\windows\system32\infected-file-name.xxx) ?
Check the avast! Log Viewer (right click the avast 'a' icon), Warning section, this contains information on all avast detections. C:\Program Files\Alwil Software\Avast4\ashLogV.exe

No problem, glad I could help.

If you post what these were (from the network shield, last attacks list) I can see if there is anything else that you need to do, e.g. did the attempted connection occur from an infected site you were visiting or was something (undetected/hidden) on your system trying to get out.

Welcome to the forums.
