Can't Successfully Quit Avast
« on: February 15, 2009, 10:24:12 PM »
When I quit Avast it spontaneously relaunches immediately  again  on its own.  When I force quit Avast, it also relaunches within seconds.  When I restart my Mac, it launches on it's own.  I don't have Avast configured to open automatically upon login or startup.
This glitch started occurring only a few hours ago. I've never had this problem before.

open the preferences and make sure "Launch at startup as a persistent application" is not checked. then try to close.

Yeah, that was it.  Funny thing is I wasn't in Avast preferences for quite some time and have no idea how it could have been enabled. ???
Now, the problem is this:  I've got "mail support" unchecked but Mail app. is launched along with Avast when I login or restart . When I check Avast's preferences "mail support" is checked, even though I haven't touched it. I understand that this is a known issue and will be corrected in the next Avast for Mac release.
I have already removed the GetRuleScript.txt" file but it still reappears in Avast's contents/resources folder. ???
OK, the file reappeared once after deleting it, so far, but not a second time, yet.

hallo,
it's possible that some nasty backup-engine (T..e M.....e? :) reverted your configuration/installation back to the previous state. in general all those "user-friendly" backup mechanism could create some confusion, when putting config files/app resources back.
