Unable to Delete Files
« on: May 03, 2004, 03:45:46 AM »
I have just completed a run using Avast Bart CD and the mydoom virus was found. However the anti virus product was only able to delete some of the files associated with it. The others were labeled as "unable to delete, access denied NR(5)". Any ideas about this? It seems to me a standalone version shouldn't get file access errors such as this. Has anyone else run acrosss this and is there a solution using the Bart product without having to download symantecs removal tools?

If the files are on the hard drive and you're getting Access Denied errors then it's most likely that the files are encrypted (on an NTFS volume). BART can bypass the Acess Control Lists (ACLs) but obviously cannot bypass the encryption.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving's not for you.
