Hi Bob3160,

I apologise if I've offended you. I just get so frustrated sometimes with that program's shortcomings!!

Again sincere apologies if I was out of order.

Regards,

Avastfan1

Your not out of order however, there aren't very many shortcomings that I know of.
IE8 does a fairly good job of keeping you safe. I feel just as safe using it as I do when I use Firefox.
Most of the time, I use SRWare Iron.
Users Choice.  :)

Hi Alan Baxter,

You know that banners can be dangerous, and you like to block certain ads, using AdBlockPlus in FF or Flock, you like to have the EasyList for ABP. Go here: http://easylist.adblockplus.org/
Together with other measurements like floppymoose, blocklists etc. you avoid a lot of places where you do not want to go in the first place,

bob3160@ SRWare's Iron has its own adblock.ini, you find it on their site and can implement it easily inside Iron, download it here: http://www.srware.net/downloads/adblock.ini

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!

I tried a lot of blockers, but I dare to say none of them compare to AdMuncher. it runs with any browser, is small, daily updates, no impact on browsing. although I use Opera and don't see much pop-ups, since I use AdMuncher I forgot what an ad or a pop-up/pop-under is. I highly recommend it.

One reason I do not use AdMuncher is due their affiliate partnership:
Quote
The Ad Muncher partnership program works as follows:

• You are given a customized Ad Muncher address to refer people to. This will look like:

http://YourAccountName.admuncher.com/

• When people visit this address, they are given a customized version of Ad Muncher that remembers that it was downloaded from your site.

• If this is a new installation of Ad Muncher on their system, the installer will record your account name in Ad Muncher's configuration.

• When the user later registers Ad Muncher and enters their registration code into the program, Ad Muncher will connect to the our servers and report that you should receive a commission on their registration.

• You will then receive 20% of the purchase amount for their registration.

I prefer the HOSTS file managed by HostsMan and its proxy HostsServer that speeds up browsing:

I use hpHosts and MVPS HOSTS files only as they are adequate for my needs.

Strange, for one month or more I can't update the ads hosts servers... what's going on?
