Avast "warning" pop up
« on: February 23, 2009, 10:15:48 PM »
Not sure if this is the right section for my question.  A short while ago this blue pop up window appeared.  It is headed "Avast Warning'  underneath "Malware was found" . Under that is says "there is no reason to panic, though.  Try to follow the given advice & links" . There is a yellow & black spinning disc that pulses beside that message.   Under that it gives file name info --- malware name. SWF:CVE-2007-0071 (Expl)   Malware type: Exploit --  VPS version 090223-0,23/2/2009.

Underneath that Available action,  move/remove - delete - remove to chest.  Recomended action:  Move to chest.

Then processing-- no action .  Statistics: ticked allow sending anonymous info about this incident.

Is this for real as never had this before or is it some type of virus etc.  Tried Alt+F4 but nothing happens.  Can someone tell me what to do?  Getting a bit freaked.

It is a real alert, see image example, once detected all hell breaks loose.

Move to the chest is the recommended action and investigate.

Google is your friend.

Somehow your Flash Player is not updated.

Thanks.  Had noticed a few times the flash player was trying to update but stopped it as did not think I needed it.   Obviously was wrong.  On dial up so almost out of time so will go on later when I have a better signal & update.  Will just "move to chest" as David suggests & hope I get more info on his comment.   Sure u can tell by now Iam not that computer savy.

Have updated the flash player & now get these windows coming up all the time.  Windows Internet Security,  "a web site wants to open web content using this program.  Do I just tick the "do not show me this warning again"   as it's driving me crazy poping up every time I get a new page.
