Bizarre Installation differences XP vs. 2000
« on: May 11, 2004, 12:50:42 AM »
I have the same version of Avast on two home machines: one is Windows XP home the other is Windows 2000. Both are patched to the latest and greatest, respectively.

Here's the problem. The Windows 2000 installation shows Basic, Internet Mail and Outlook realtime scanners while the Windows 2000 installation shows those three plus P2P and IM scannners as well. Moreover both machines have identical setups as far as AOLIM and WinMX is concerned. I would really like to understand why the Windows XP Home installation does not show real time agents for P2P and IM.

Check Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs -> avast antivirus -> Change. Are the P2P/IM guys selected? If not, they're not installed; just check them to install them now.
