G DATA 2010 Final Versions Have Been Released!
« on: March 15, 2009, 01:11:13 PM »
I think it was too early to release the 2010 versions in March. :o The 2010 versions still include Avast+BitDefender combo.

The products are currently only in German. Now it's time to improve my average German skills. ;D

When I see something like that (2010 version released when we are barely into 2009) it make me think hype/marketing and I would cross to the other side of the street.

I'm not a fan of year number version names in any software, including my firewall OP Pro 209 which came out in June/July 2008. It just seems so damn false, and in many cases is more hype/bells and whistles than function.

I agree with David, I wont buy software that uses a year version scheme. Its just a way to get more money in upgrade fees.

the upgrade to a newer version with GData is for free... you pay for a time period and get all updates and upgrades in this time (one year for example) for free - like Avast! does  :D - so, no additional fees  ;)

The year hype/marketing is for new customers really (that is where they make their money) and for those who just must have the latest of everything regardless of cost.

The thing with the early release of calendar year versions, is when it actually gets to 2010 it is old hat, so guess what out comes 2011.
