Outlook Express

Have set up  Outlook Express, with Gmail. but when I try now to send mail from outlook, I get this:(see attachment) has some thing to do with the server 127xxx, am now lost, Thanks for any help. :'(

I think it's missing the @gmail after the user and the port number must be correctly set.

Tried it both ways Tech, same thing. I put in the server # when following there instructions.  out smtp 465. in imap 993 Must not be right.

The problem was you were trying to configure the GMail account on Outlook Express to go to GMail via the avast Internet Mail provider.

This must not be done - the avast Internet Mail provider cannot scan the secured connections that GMail requires you to use with their servers. 

Scott pointed you at the correct direct connections that are needed for GMail; you need to stick with those.

Could it be that you have missed the .com?
It isn't shown in the error message, so it's not very clear whether it is there

sure did !!!. Incomming working !!!. Still have to work on out going. Again thanks for putting me on the right track!!!!!

Set for 465. see attachtment. I don't know where it is getting . or using mail.isp.com ?? in th error message. isp is my isp. ??

The only thing that I can think of is that you have not set the outbound server as:

smtp.gmail.com

From the image it looks like you are trying to use a different server to send your messages (mail.isp.com)

also the help page did say that the port # was: 465 or 25, so this could also possibly be the problem
