CHEST VIRUS WITH PROBLEMS
« on: March 21, 2009, 12:30:17 AM »
Some days ago I began to have problems with the virus chest.

When Avast finds a virus intending to enter it works as ever but when I intend to put it into the virus chest, a note appears telling me the the virus chest is being used by another application and I cannot put the virus there. Then I delete the virus but when I accept, another program tells me that the windows register has been modified and asks me if I allow the change.

I do not know if I must to accept that change.

How can I restore the virus chest function? I do not know why Avast tells me that there is another application using it.

Than you for your help

I apologize for my English but it is not may native language.

Are you using Windows XP/Vista?
Can you schedule a boot-time scanning?
Start avast! > Right click the skin > Schedule a boot-time scanning.
Select for scanning archives.
Boot.
If infected files are found, it's safer to send them to Chest instead of deleting them.
This way you can further analysis them.

Access denied means, generally, that the file is in use by another process (program) and cannot be repaired/cleaned/moved/handled by avast!
The report file is created automatically in <avast4>\Data\Report\aswBoot.txt
