Can you rephrase or post a screenshot of something similar? What are these icons? Which is the browser?

I think he means the icons that show up in the address bar to the left of the address or in the tab next to the page name (see image)

Hey Hines232,
Does it show the IE Icon, just not any for the other websites you visit?
I guess thats kind of hard to check because IE6 does not have tabs,
so you cant open an empty one.
This happened to me when I used IE7,the IE tab was visible, but not the one for
google or any other site.
I cleared the cache and temporary files, rebooted and they came back.
Maybe you have already tried this,if not it is quick try.
regards

NORMISHMEAL-----Doesn't even show the IE ICON. Was testing OPERA, (to sloooooow), messed up yahoo email, and other things. Went back to MY IE6 (IE7-8) not supported on windows ME. Will check out what you mentioned. Thanks for the come back. P.S. Just did what You suggested this morning, still AWOL. Will try a few other tricks.

It's a very elusive problem (maybe because most people wouldn't notice it :)), and I can't seem to find much about it anywhere apart from what NORMISHMEAL suggested.

Also I rarely use IE6, except when I come across a computer at school that is not updated, but I'll try to have a look there, see if I can come up with something else.

Short of reinstalling IE, I am not sure though, sorry

You known that may not be a bad idea, just reinstall IE6.
I know when I removed IE7 for some weird problem that has
slipped my mind,it reverted to IE6,and it was no problem to
download IE7 from Windows updates and start with a clean slate.
Running down bugs like this will make you want to dump
a full magazine on your computer.

Scott, the reason I noticed it is because I have made "links" MY tab's. If I like a sight that I am on I use to  drag and drop the icon in to a new "LINK". now I drag a blank spot, and it is still working for that web page.  ;D

normis---- You are right !! If you spot any thing at school, let me know. Thanks to all. ( I checked with H.P. email support !!!!!!!! Thats another story.  :o
