Another update issue
« on: March 23, 2009, 10:51:57 AM »
Hello all!
I've installed Avast, and tried to configure updates, but failed.
The situation is:
I'm using a proxy with NTLM auth, i do not have any firewall, except Win XP native one, but it is turned off.
In windows connection settings the proxy is not defined, it's only defined in firefox and miranda.
I define proxy in the same way in avast, and it can not update, somewhy.

I've searched through the forum, and found an advice to change avast's services to log in as an administrator -- and I did that, but had no difference.

This is the log:

It looks like the logs fot the situation with wrong password really has difference. Does it mean that Avast can successfully log into the proxy server? What should I do to make it update?

PS I can easily download http://75.125.13.114//iavs4x/servers.def (which is I think Avast tries to download) with firefox.

PPS If I define proxy in windows -- i get HTTP403 error. In that case the file, that avast is trying to access can be downloaded via IE or Safari (they both use windows proxy settings).

The latest is Build: is Feb2009 (4.8.1335)

You need to update avast! by right clicking on the blue icon then select Updating then Program Update.

I'm very sorry about that, but as I mentioned above -- update doesn't work for me.

I suggest an installation from the scratch:

1. Uninstall avast from Control Panel first.
2. Boot.
3. Download the latest version of Avast Uninstall and use it for complete uninstallation.
4. Boot.
5. Install again the latest avast! version.
6. Boot.
7. Check and post the results.
