Hi allanrf,
Conficker is an overhyped issue, fully patched and following prescribed security practices the risk on infection is minimal, a Win32: Vitro infection is another beast altogether and will lead to total recall of the machine. A lot of malware comes in under the radar, stays under the radar, only makes the victim's computer soooo slow, the victim may be unaware that he or she does no longer own this computer and his machine helps to keep the spam output like it always have been. The people that do not know or feel like computer security help the status quo: no malware detected, cybercrime business as usual, anti malware business as usual, everybody happy thanks to the unaware,
