I can`t install Avast
« on: April 02, 2009, 11:28:35 PM »
Hi ,

Yesterday I downloaded new version of avast Home edition . I didn`t have it before on my OS .
When I tried to install it , in second step of installation , setup window lost on screen !
When I tried for second time , this time setup window lost when installation process had been started !
But after it when I click on avast setup icon , no installation window appears on screen so I can`t install it  :-[

I tried to install older version but again nothing loads for doing installation process .
What can I do ?

Which was your old antivirus? How did you uninstall it?
Which is your operational system?
Are there any other security programs installed?

Read the instructions, download and burn (maybe from another computer), finally use one of this rescue CD's:
1. Avira
2. Kaspersky
3. BitDefender
4. F-Secure
5. Dr. Web

Then I suggest:

1. Clean your temporary files.
2. Schedule a boot time scanning with avast with archive scanning turned on. If avast does not detect it, you can try DrWeb CureIT! instead.
3. Use SUPERantispyware, MBAM or Spyware Terminator to scan for spywares and trojans. If any infection is detected, better and safer is send the file to Quarantine than to simple delete them.
4. Test your machine with anti-rootkit applications. I suggest avast! antirootkit or Trend Micro RootkitBuster.
5. Make a HijackThis log to post here or this analysis site. Or even submit the RunScanner log to to on-line analysis.
6. Disable System Restore and then reenable it again.
7. Immunize your system with SpywareBlaster.
8. Check if you have insecure applications with Secunia Software Inspector.
