False Alarm for Yahoo Advertisements??
« on: April 04, 2009, 11:26:55 AM »
Hi there! I was just browsing through my email (Yahoo Mail) when my Avast suddenly popped-up and there was a buzz (alarm maybe??) coming from my Web Shield  indicating that there was an infected url that i was browsing. However, I was just writing an email that I needed to send to my employer. I was not reading mails from other people. When I checked the url from my "On-Access Protection Control", I can see that the supposedly "threat" was from a Yahoo Car Category Banner advertisement. Is this just a false alarm maybe?

What malware name did Avast detect in the ad banner?

Maybe it's not false... don't worry, webshield should have blocked the connection to that particular site.
