  • Some days..... MOS...this bug's for you
Hi

How is the computer? The only thing in these logs are a bit of left over Norton (Symantec).

I suggest you go to add remove programs and uninstall anything with Norton or Symantec in the name.

Then run the Norton removal tool to get the remnants.

Download the Norton Removal Tool from HERE and save it to your desktop.

Next  Double click on Norton_Removal_Tool.exe  to run the tool.

Follow the on-screen instructions.
Your computer may be restarted more than once, and you may be asked to repeat some steps after the computer restarts.

.
Let us know how you make out and any problems you are having.

Thanks

Try this, it is the link that oldman gave, but his one the forum software wrapped it in an http, which is why it failed. Right click on the link and select save as or save file as (depending on your browser) and save to your hard disk where you can find it again.

ftp://ftp.symantec.com/public/english_us_canada/removal_tools/Norton_Removal_Tool.exe

I have just checked the link and the file is there and is 2.92MB.

I'll save the link you provided DavidR for reference. But I don't see why symantec would provide this list

http://www.symantec.com/norton/support/kb/web_view.jsp?wv_type=public_web&selected_nav=&pvid=&docurl=20080710133834EN

of removal tools when they could just as easily only provide this one removal tool that you gave the link to. ???

It is just an alternative direct link, as the other one provides information, etc. this one is just an ftp link to download it tool. I have never had to use it as I have avoided all Norton Security products.

My IBM ThinkCentre came with Norton 360 in its Recovery Partition until I performed a Lobotomy on the partition and removed Norton and modified the bat file that tried to install it to just a REM statement.  8)

Not going to happen. I'll just use the link provided by Polonus in another thread:
http://www.yorkspace.com/pc-de-crapifier/

and remove all of the programs that I don't use if I ever have to do a reset to factory defaults. ;)

Hi guys,

Thanks DavidR. No matter what I try the HTTP keeps getting added to that link. This isn't the only one of my canned that this forum FUBARs

@Donovansrb10

Any other problems? If not...

Open OTMoveIT3 then click the Clean Up button. You may get prompted by your firewall that OTMoveIt3 It wants to contact the internet -  allow this.  A cleanup.txt will be downloaded, a message dialog will ask you if you want to proceed with the cleanup process, click Yes. This will do some clean up tasks and delete some of the tools you have downloaded plus itself.
