I have had a quick look at the combofix log (not too familiar with it, hopefully oldman will have a look at it too) and the only thing I see that needs to be checked out further is:

c:\windows\system32\BD708F660F.sys
- At first I though it might have something to do with BitDefender, so I did a google search on the file name and came up with zero hits, which in my mind is a little suspicious for a file in the system32 folder.

####
Check the suspect file/s at: VirusTotal - Multi engine on-line virus scanner and report the findings here in the topic, the URL in the Address bar of the VT results page.

Send the sample to virus@avast.com zipped and password protected with the password in email body, a reference to this topic (give URL) and undetected malware in the subject.

Or you can also add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest (if it isn't already there) where it can do no harm and send it from there. A copy of the file/s will remain in the original location, so you will need to take further action and can remove/rename that.

Send it from the User Files section of the chest (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). It will be uploaded (not actually emailed) to avast when the next avast auto (or manual) update is done.

URL as requested http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/267e780ff8c74e79c58bb0696e184dcf

I sent to to avast using option 2.

What further action do i need to take to remove/delete that file?  Do I just go into it and press delete?  I obviously have no idea what I;m doing lol.

That is fairly clear, no detections.

I should have only been necessary to send to avast if multiple scanners detected anything and none did. But at only 56bytes, they shouldn't have much trouble analysing what it does.

Hi, a wee bit more to do.

Open hijackthis, do a system scan only and checkmark these lines, if present

O9 - Extra button: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)
O9 - Extra 'Tools' menuitem: PartyPoker.com - {B7FE5D70-9AA2-40F1-9C6B-12A255F085E1} - C:\Program Files\PartyGaming\PartyPoker\RunApp.exe (file missing)

Close ALL other windows/browsers and click Fix Checked. Answer Yes if prompted. Close HJT.

.
Just to be sure

Go here to run an online scannner from :
ESET

(Note: You must use Internet Explorer for this scan.)

  • Tick the box next to YES, I accept the Terms of Use.
  • Click Start
  • When asked, allow the activex control to install
  • Disable your Antivirus software. You can usually do this with its Notfication Tray icon near the clock
  • Click Start
  • Make sure that the option "Remove found threats" is Unchecked, and the option "Scan unwanted applications" is  Checked.
  • Click Scan.
  • Wait for the scan to finish.
  • Re-enable your Antivirus software.
  • A logfile is created and located at C:\Program Files\EsetOnlineScanner\log.txt. We will need this later.
Please post back with the ESET log and a new HJT log.

Windows blocks the ESET program because it cannot verify the publisher.  How do I override this?

Hi

Looks good. Did you repair your Hosts file per DavidR's instructions or did you get HostXpert to work? There may be other AV or secutiry sites that are being blocked.

Let us know and we'll assist in clearing that up.

If there are no other problems, we'll clean up our tools after you reply back.

Thanks

I have not been able to get HostExpert to work and I am unclear as to how to repair the files manually.

Find and open the HOSTS file using Notepad as per previous, info.

Either edit your existing file so it shows the same info as my example or delete the contents and copy and paste the example that was in the quite into your file, save and exit.
