VRDB problems,and some others....

sorry to bother you guys with this, but...

when I make the Vrdb run (via screensaver and/or computer idle mode) it seems to run fine, and the avast screen saver says it is done (finisched). But when i load the Avast main program (scanner) it says the Vrdb has NEVER been run ?? How come ? I tried to let my pc "idle" for 1 hour, i let the Avast screen saver finish, etc...Offcourse i changed the settings every time so there were correct setup. It is the first time I want to update Vrdb. (i'm aware the first time takes a little longer after boot > new avast 4.0 Pro install).

I'm afraid that if "the shit hits the fan", and a virus infects me, i cannot recover from it without VRDB

Without backup possibility > I'm doomed !

I use Win XP SP 1 and AVAST 4.0 Pro. With full updates.

Hi,

you're confusing the avast Screen-Saver with the VRDB generator. These are two disctinct things. The avast screen-saver is a normal scanner, whereas the generator is (surprisingly) generating the VRDB.

If you want to have the VRDB generated asap, switch it to 'Generate when idle', and work normally with the computer. It shouldn't take more than an afernoon to get generated....

did i mentioned i will be visiting the Czech Republic (vacation with car) on 12/7/03 till 19/6 ? Near Pilzen a little city called Brazy (Darova) in the forrests.
