Hi Jamboy,

On top of the rogue you have a major vundo infection. The best thing to do is hit it hard.

Please download the OTMoveIt3 by OldTimer.
  • Save it to your desktop. Do not run it yet, we will use it in a minute.
.
Open hijackthis, do a system scan only and checkmark these lines, if present

It is vitally important that combofix is renamed before it is even started to download

Please download ComboFix from Here or Here to your Desktop.

**Note:  In the event you already have Combofix, this is a new version that I need you to download. It is important that it is saved directly to your desktop**

  • If you are using Firefox, make sure that your download settings are as follows:

     -Tools->Options->Main tab
-Set to "Always ask me where to Save the files".

  • During the download, rename Combofix to Combo-Fix as follows:

  • It is important you rename Combofix during the download, but not after.
  • Please do not rename Combofix to other names, but only to the one indicated.
  • Close any open browsers.
  • Close/disable all anti virus and anti malware programs so they do not interfere with the running of ComboFix

-----------------------------------------------------------
  • Very Important! Temporarily disable your anti-virus, script blocking and any anti-malware real-time protection before performing a scan. They can interfere with ComboFix or remove some of its embedded files which may cause "unpredictable results".
  • Click on this link to see a list of programs that should be disabled. The list is not all inclusive. If yours is not listed and you don't know how to disable it, please ask.
    -----------------------------------------------------------
  • Double click on ComboFix.exe & follow the prompts.
  • As part of it's process, ComboFix will check to see if the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed. With malware infections being as they are today, it's strongly recommended to have this pre-installed on your machine before doing any malware removal.  It will allow you to boot up into a special recovery/repair mode that will allow us to more easily help you should your computer have a problem after an attempted removal of malware.
  • Follow the prompts to allow ComboFix to download and install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console, and when prompted, agree to the End-User License Agreement to install the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console.

**Please note: If the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is already installed, ComboFix will continue it's malware removal procedures.

Once the Microsoft Windows Recovery Console is installed using ComboFix, you should see the following message:

Please post back with
  • OTMOVEIT3 log
  • combofix log
  • new HJT log taken after all other steps are done.
How's the computer?

Thanks

I disabled my firewall, ad aware, and stop avast on acess protection but when I open up combo fix it says it still detects avast is running, I double check and its off with a red circle with a line over the blue a. So I open and run combo fix but all it does is open a blue box with a line and it just stays there with no prompts nothing. I'm lost.

Hi Jamboy,

You are doing fine. There is probably a chunk of malwalware preventing combofix from running.

I'm not sure if you were in safe mode or in normal windows. If you where in normal windows, please boot into safe mode and try, only once, to run combofix.

If you have already tried safe mode or if it fails to run, let me know, there are other tools we can use.

Either way, please post a new HJT log so I can see how much damage we have done to this criiter.

Thanks

Hi Jamboy,

Let's see if we can sort this out. Avast website may be being blocked by an infected Hosts file. I don't know what was removed during the boottime scan, which if why I asked you not to do any scans other than those requested so, I can only guess at a fix.

For the Hosts file follow the instructions http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=44150.msg369953#msg369953

Next, try to run this command and see if you can connect.

  • Now go to Start > Run > type: cmd
  • Press OK or Hit Enter.
  • At the command prompt, type or copy/paste: ipconfig /flushdns  (note the space between “..g /f…” it needs to be there)
  • Hit Enter.
  • You will get a confirmation that the flush was successful.
  • Close the command box.

If you have a CD please copy the HJT log to a blank CD and use your other computer to post the log.

If you use a USB device, lease use this utility on the clean machine before inserting it into the infected machine.

Download Flash_Disinfector.exe by sUBs and save it to your desktop.
  • Double-click Flash_Disinfector.exe to run it and follow any prompts that may appear.
  • The utility may ask you to insert your flash drive and/or other removable drives including your mobile phone. Please do so and allow the utility to clean up those drives as well.
  • Wait until it has finished scanning and then exit the program.
Reboot your computer when done.
Note: Flash_Disinfector will create a hidden folder named autorun.inf in each partition and every USB drive plugged in when you ran it. Don't delete this folder...it will help protect your drives from future infection.

Thanks

Cybersecurity is more of an attitude than anything else. Avast Evangelists.

Use NoScript, a limited user account and a virtual machine and be safe(r)!
