In February 2009, I renewed my previous subscription to Avast Pro and downloaded a new version, 4.8, and activated it with the provided license key. I am using Windows XP Pro. In Windows' list of programs under the "Start" menu, Avast! Antivirus appears, but, when I select it, the only choice that appears is an item entitled "Avast! Antivirus" and when invoked, it only does a scan of memory. There is no choice of selecting either the "Simple" interface or the "Enhanced" interface as described in the Help file. Upon going to the list of installed programs on my system, using Windows Explorer, I found the Avast program files, including "ashSimpl", "ashSimp2" and ashEnhcd." Clicking on any of these does nothing!
Why, when installing Avast, are there not options in the Windows program list for any invoking of these latter interfaces? Why, when installing Avast, is there not an option to add an icon to the Windows desktop for Avast?
Also, I finally was able to bring up an Avast "Simple" pop-up navigation tool, but, I do not see any "Menu" button as described in the Help file.
