avast! and online antiviruses
« on: April 19, 2009, 10:06:45 PM »
Hi everybody,

I know is totally inadvisable having several antiviruses installed simultaneously, but there is little information about what we should do with on-line antiviruses.

For example, let's suppose that my system is infected by a certain malware which avast! is unable to detect (I know it's weird with a detection rate of 98,2% :o) so I decide run an on line AV (such as the Kaspersky, McAfee or Panda one). Should I uninstall or, at least, disable the resident protection of avast! before? In other words, may any on-line scan cause any conflict with avast!? May it wrongly detect avast! as false positive?

Thanks in advance.

The on-line scanners could be installed and could run with avast on, no conflicts at all.
But, some users will say to disable avast to avoid double scanning (by the on-line and by avast). I won't do that although, for me, the antivirus is always on.

May it wrongly detect avast! as false positive?
Maybe some temporary file... but not the program and other parts of it.
