Can someone explain Avast in general terms?
« on: April 28, 2009, 05:18:21 PM »
I just need someone to explain this program vs. Norton, Spysweeper, Stopzilla etc...? Other than it is free why should I use Avast? Does it give you reports on what it has removed? It just seems to continuously scan?

It uses less memory than most.  It has a very high detection rate.  It's just a great A/V product.

Yes, it does. It has a virus chest that says what was removed, and where it was detected.

If there isn't anything in the chest, then it hasn't found a virus yet.

I suggest reading the user manual: http://avast.com/eng/download-user-guides-and-manual.html
