The first thing we need to do is make sure that you DO have a help file. Follow the data path in the error message and see if you have the file
Reinstalling would not fix the problem if the file was destroyed or corrupted. Compare the file size in the troubled unit with the one that is working. I don't remember what the file size is at the moment.
Did Avast ever work on this particular station?
Another suggestion may be to copy the file from the other W2x computer to the one with the problem to see if it is a fix.
If not, you may need to download a fresh copy of Avast and try a new reinstall. A recommendation here is to obtain a copy of AVCLEAR from Alwil. It is a small program to remove all remnants of Avast before a new install. It was designed for Avast32, but works equally well on Avast 4. I have found that this program does help in giving you a good reinstall.
One of the more common mistakes users make when doing an installation on any program is to leave other programs running in the background. Make sure you shut down all other non-essential operating system programs before starting the install so that the new program can go in "clean" without conflicts.
