Hi gnulab!

SI: 0x00000005
Means access denied.

ST: 0x2000001C
Means that your licence key is not valid.

Which Version do you use - Home or Pro?

Oh I see...

Well, I'm logged in with administrator rights, so I should be fine.

License not valid, guess my friend gave me wrong one then.

Looking to buy licence... know where to get that's cheap but legit?

If you want to use the Home Version - which is free for home users and not for comercial purpose - you can request your key on the avast! homepage.

If you use the PC for your work or you want to buy the Pro to benefit of the extra features you can purchase it online (again) via the avast! homepage (Element5).

I have another problem.

My Avast is 4.8.1296. I just installed it, but it does not update its bases... VPS file is 19.12.2008 old. I run "Update" but Avast do nothing... I use Russian Avast interface. Internet connection is OK, direct, without proxy.

Whats a problem may be?

Welcome Steelex

The current version of avast! is Build Feb2009(4.8.1335) so the version you have is quite old.

Click on the blue ball down in the Taskbar then select Updating then select Program Update to download the latest program.

I think you have done the avast installation several times in the same folder.
To solve this, uninstall it from control panel, create a new folder in your program files(i.e. Avast) and re-install your product.
If the unsinstallation is not successful through the control panel, restart your PC, press F8, select safe mode, and delete the content of the avast installation folder.
NB one file will refuse to be deleted.

select Program Update to download the latest program.
Thank you very much! Its OK now. Most likely the Avast was old and "did not wish" to load upgrade for a new platform. :) After installation of a new program platform it was updated at once.

There are no cheap Pro legit licenses, they are obtained through avast's on-lime payment system or through authorised distributors.

The free version is an obvious option if you are looking for cheap, you need only register for the free version and you get a registration key, valid for 14 months and then you have to re-register again free.
