Hi All; 
I was thinking the same thing, Avast such a great program it is, does not seem to scan http mail and, that includes Hotmail.
*That is unless the Avast developers are going to make changes to Avast to scan http mail. 
you mean avast doesn't scan if you download attachments from hotmail??? ???shouldn't be isn't it....i thought the resident shield should catch any virus?

8)Just in case you did not understand and, for the sake of simple folk like myself;
In Standard Shield setting/Customize/Scanner (Advanced) tab, select, Scan Files On Open / Scan created/modified files.
This seems to do the trick and, makes the Avast icon in the system tray whirl.
For extra peace of mind, you could click on the Advanced tab and, select Show detailed info on performed action (you have to be quick to read it though).
Sorry! Avast developers, for what I said earlier.
Avast is realy great program.
