downloading avast 4! help
« on: April 21, 2009, 11:58:47 AM »
Hi can anyone help.

I have purchased the avast 4 professional edition antivirus program.  I have tried downloading but it keeps saying "There was an error while changing the product configuration" and everytime I log on to my computer it tells me my software is out of date!  I have gone to the support link on the home page but nothing comes up!  I cannot  submit a ticket and can't find any telephone number!

Please help

Thanks

Hi, shars, and welcome to the forum
Do you already have a version of Avast installed, or currently using something else?
I'm gathering (guessing a bit) from your post that you maybe have Avast home installed, and decided to upgrade. (Good for you.)
I think a new download is not required; all that is necessary is to insert the new product key (you should get an email from Alwil software) is inserted into your Avast Home installation to activate the pro features. Make any sense?
Windows 10,Windows Firewall,Firefox w/Adblock.

Go to the SSL page version and register from there: https://secure.avast.com/scripts/register.php?lang=ENG.  The Registration key is valid for 14 months.
See the tutorial:  http://www.avast.com/files/tutorials/insert_key.htm
Please take a look here: http://www.avast.com/eng/faq-invalid-license-number.html

What is the error message?
Is your system date/time correct?
Do you use copy & paste method?
Are you sure you do not include the 'last blank space' in the paragraph while copying & pasting?
Which avast version are you trying to register (Home or Professional)?

Hi, thanks for both of you getting back to me.  I did have avast installed and then paid again for the homeware version.  I have had the product key and put it in using the methods stated below by Tech but it still keeps saying THERE WAS AN ERROR WHILE CHANGING THE PRODUCT CONFIGURATION!  I have gone to the SSL version that Tech has given me and I Will let you know how I get on!!

Many thanks,

Shars ::)
