AVAST 4.1 HOME MORE as one SMTP
« on: May 12, 2004, 05:59:18 PM »
Email Client The Bat and FoxMail.

It is possible to declare more as one POP3/SMTP Account over AVAST??

Sample:
[MailScanner]
DefaultPopServer=pop3.account1
DefaultSmtpServer=smtp.account1
DefaultPopServer2=pop3.account2
DefaultSmtpServer2=smtp.account2
....

This is a missing option

yes...it is possible of coz...avast automatically detects multiple accounts...

the default smtp/pop servers shown in avast.ini are meant for communication with alwil software..ie. sending virus file

hope this is clear

You do not have to edit the avast4.ini file to use more than one email account...
Why don't you just run Mail Protection Wizard from the Start Menu > avast antivirus and follow the instructions?  ;)

I have run the Mail Protection Wizard

Here the screenshot (German version)

The The Bat plugin run successfully but only with incoming emails. No check for outgoing email. Only run with the DefaultSMTP/DefaultPOP3 in the Avast4.ini

The OS is WinME

I downloaded "The Bat!" for you !

See the attached image.
Mail account and server name in the image are not real. Those are sample data.

With manual settings ( correct server and account ), I made sure with that avast! checked downloaded e-mail.  ( Set PopServer1=127.0.0.1 in the Avast4.ini )

Select "Account" -> "Properties" -> "Transport" and you can see pop3 setting on "The Bat!".

[MailScanner]
PopServer1=pop.gmx.net
PopServer2=operamail.com
Popserver3=pop3.myrealbox.com
SMTPServer1=mail.gmx.net
SMTPServer2=operamail.com
SMTPServer3=SMTP.myrealbox.com

You should specify only one server as default.

Thanks
