virus info.txt and .htm
« on: May 11, 2004, 04:02:07 AM »
Is there any way to change the names of these when they are attached to an email?  The messages are clean, but they send some people into a fright.

I am afraid I don't understand the original post completely... What "names" do you want to change? What is the problem with the messages?

The messages cannot be zipped because avast is the one that creates them and attaches them to the email.

When someone receives an email with attachments called virus info.txt and virus info.htm, they think they are virus. Something like info.txt or info.htm without the virus part would be good.  Or even avast info.txt.  Just not virus or clean or scan etc in the name.

I don't understand why sometimes avast puts the clean message text into an email, and sometimes it makes attachments. I never see the messages avast puts in or attaches unless someone forwards the email back to me.

Would you like me to post a pic of what it looks like in an email?

I will try again.

This is an example of the email forwarded back to me with the virus info.txt and virus info.htm. Also the text of what is in the virus info.txt.

I don't understand why someone should be freightened by a message that states that the message is clean and gives you the info as to how recently the virus database has been updated.
You can however change that message when you first set it up.

The name is probably constructed by the receiving mail program from these header lines added by avast with the note about scanning:
Content-Type: text/html
Content-Description: virus info
They are not configurable, I think we can consider changing the description.

Thank you. I know why it's happening now.  The description change would be a good thing. :)
