Windows 7 RC gets its first bug, and it's a doozy
« on: May 12, 2009, 12:11:28 AM »
The first documented bug in the Windows 7 Release Candidate (build 7100) is a doozy.

Yesterday, Microsoft published Knowledge Base article 970789, which provides details of a problem that affects the 32-bit (x86) English-language version of Windows 7 build 7100. The problem, in short, is that the installer incorrectly sets access control lists (ACLs) on the root of the system drive.

A patch has already been applied to correct this bug if you receive auto updates.
If you don't receive auto updates, just run the Windows Updater from the control panel.

I just wish I could afford to buy a new machine, so that I could turn my old machine into a tester to actually run the Win 7 RC that I downloaded...  ;D

Grr... if my stupid TV didn't blow up, and my stupid butt put it in the shop (instead of fixing it myself) I'd probably spend the money on a new comp.

Instead, I'm gearing up for a new big screen LCD or Plasma...

That, and worrying about having to buy a house soon.

Oh well, at least I get to read all of the cool things and the problems that people encounter with the new O/S.

Hey scy, Do you have enough space on your HDD to dual boot 7 ? That's what I'm doing, It only calls for 16GB ( I gave it 50)

Hehehe.... wow am I full.

I thought by buying 80GB drives and putting them in a RAID 0 would keep me running for quite a while.  Oh, how things change.

My music drive is full, my entertainment drive is very close, and my movie drive is very very close.  Boot drive has maybe 3 GB free.

I'm going to buy 2 1TB drives and make a RAID 1 Mirror out of them for my next comp, but then I'll have to update the storage on my server too, due to backups.

The only thing that I have space on is my test machine that I'm using now, with Vista and Kubuntu loaded and dual-booting (only have 3.8 GB free on that, too!).

Trust me, if I had any space left anywhere (with at least a little muscle behind it), I'd be using it!

I just need to put some money into some new systems, as I'm highly overdue.  I just can't bring myself to do it yet...
