Running Automatic Scan
« on: May 06, 2009, 02:18:50 AM »
;D ;D I'll get straight to it. I am using avast 4.8 professional running on Windows XP SP3. I tried to use the Task Scheduler in windows to run an avast scan at a designated time.

I told Task Scheduler to call the ashsimpl.exe function. Task Scheduler did exactly that but in doing so, I still had to select the scan areas. That's not what I want it to do. What I really want is, when Task Scheduler calls the avast function, the scan to start right away without any user interface.

So therefore, I would like the scan areas to already be selected so the scan can start as soon as Task Scheduler tell it to do so.

Do I have to use the avast command line to achieve this?

PS. I love avast. Best anti-virus software ;D ;D

You need to be using the Enhanced User Interface with the Pro version, in here you can ceate a new Task and set the functions you want and schedule it from within avast. Sorry I can't be more help I use the home version which doesn't have the Enhanced User Interface.

Check out the avast Help file, Enhanced User Interface Main Menu section, see image extract.

If you haven't figured it out by DavidR's post, I have several professional editions at my disposal, and I might be able to assist you further.  If you need help creating an advanced scanning schedule, post it here, and I'll help you out as best as I can.

You can't schedule in Home version. Only in Professional.
