i should of wrote it all down but i will if it happens again, module was enabled at the time

eariler i modified this key http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=44920.msg376298#msg376298 under Vista, restarted and all seemed well, after this BS, i looked in the reg and the entry i added is now gone

Have you been experiencing any other problems with this computer?  Sometimes page faults could be the cause of failing memory.

You might try to test your memory with Microsoft's memory diagnostic tool, available here: http://oca.microsoft.com/en/windiag.asp

It doesn't take too long to run.

I run the same O/S that you do, and I haven't seen this happen yet, so I don't think it's a Vista thing (anything's possible though!).
For generic computer (not avast) problems, you can also visit my forum for help: http://www.jacobytech.net/forum

Can you upload the minidump to ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming ?
Thanks.

no, no problems up until yesterday... haven't got a BSOD yet, i disabled protected module though
file doesn't seem to want to upload, might be a misconfigured ftp client on my side though, i'll upload here and just rename the thing .log if i can

no errors with windows diag utility or mem diag tool
