Avast 5.0.545
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:18:09 AM »
Just started using free Avast 5.0.545

I like to update manually so as not to interfere with burning CD's, browsing, etc.  But when I set this new Avast to "manual updates", the icon in the lower right tray is blocked with a little yellow alert sign, "!".

And of course the icon does not spin to show when it is working?

It seems the user is being penalized for using the "manual" option?  How to get around this?

Settings / Status Bar / Definitions auto updates

On the other hand, I certainly cannot imagine how automatic updates would interfere with browsing (other than the virus database getting obsolete and allowing you to get infected when browsing).

Or,you can leave automatic updates on,and...Settings-updates-details update option-untick show notification box after automatic update AND
Settings-sounds-untick enable avast! sounds-and(or) automatic update.
Is not very "healthy" to set an AV to manual updates....but if this is your choice.... ::)
