Is this a Virus or a false positive
« on: May 10, 2009, 02:27:49 PM »
Hi Guys, I download Dr web cure it virus scanner and I scan my pc and it found no viruses. Then I downloaded the Dr Web update that is the "launch.exe" virus scan and ran it and it said it pick up a trojan virus name Trojan.PWS.WSgame.10134. It was located in the windows service pack 2 software program and in C:\windows\$NT ServicePack Uninstall$.

I ran a Avast 4.8 and Bitdefender 8 scan and it did not say it has a virus.

So I want to know if Dr web "launch.exe" made a false positive result or does windows service pack 2 have a trojan.PWS.PWS.WSgame.10134 virus installed in it, cos Dr web "launch.exe" did not pick up any viruses in windows service pack 3 software pack.

Hey Northeast its sound like a false threat.
I suggest you upload it to virustotal and see if some other antivirus detect this file as a threat if not then its a false threat so you can send it to Dr web cure an tell them this.
Good luck!

To know if a file is a false positive, please submit it to VirusTotal and let us know the result. VirusTotal has a file size limit of 10Mb. You can use VirScan also.
