Help, please
« on: May 07, 2009, 03:22:36 AM »
??? I can open all file's except the last scan report. Each time I try notepad goes non responsive. Have restarted my computer to no avail.
I'm running XP Home. Avast Home Edition 4.8. Build (Feb 2009) 4.8.
Please help!

I am sorry I do not see the SUI any where now. After the last scan I performed I click on "See info for last scan" and that's when notepad went non responsive. I do not know what to do at this point. It will be Saturday before I am able to uninstall and then reinstall Avast. If I can uninstall at all I know that there has been issues with uninstalling.

When I did not see "See info for last scan" I went to the avast folder reports and tried to open the file from there to no avail.
I hope all is O. K. with Avast on my computer at this point I don't know what to think.
I did a search for Simple User Interface and the report that will not open is 218,917 kb. Why is this file so big? When I did not get any report of a viral infection. When I have not changed any thing under reports; and the one before it is only 1 kb.

Tech,
I assume you are referring to the fire wall I am using? That would be Windows Fire Wall. I have no other installed on the computer.

Well the free Home version doesn't retain the Last Scan Report data after you close the Simple User Interface (SUI) and the option would be greyed out.

So have you closed the SUI after your last scan ?
Was the option greyed out ?

You can go to the program settings and turn on the creation of the report file to see what's going on with the scanning.
The report file created (if you turned it on in program settings) will be (default location) at <avast4>\Data\Report\Simple User Interface.txt

A warning about using that report file it can get very large, unless you select the option to overwrite the previous file.
