Why do games take more memory than supposed to?

I have downloaded about 7 games - 4.8GB total. But On the the circle thing it has lot 20-30MB more =o Or is it that I have more games downloading? I heard that anything is running will make it increases temporarily.

Wait till the download(s) has finished, then look at the size.
