This is commonly associated with having another AV or remnants left on your system.

Have (or did) you another AV installed in this system, if so what was it and how did you get rid of it ?

Anti Virus, remnants are frequently left behind by a number of AVs even when they have been uninstalled, it is this that can cause conflict. This could be the cause of this error.

What other anti-virus programs were on your computer before you installed avast?

I´ve had Avast installed earlyer also.
Got problem when I was trying to upgrade it. I did then uninstalled it from the controlpanel and then installed it again. Well, anyway, today I managed to uninstall it with Avast own uninstalltool in secure mode.
Did a new install and got my original problem back...that I can´t open links in some websites and some is blank e.g hotmail, while other working?!
I don´t know what to do, was happy with my Avast until now.

But are the Red Circle over the icon/RPC/AAVM errors gone after the clean reinstall ?

The problem with what you are experiencing with the links is the inconsistency, some links work, some are blank and others are working. Now if this were an avast issue they would either all be working or none would be working.

Try terminating the Web Shield and see if that makes any difference ?
If it does then that to a reasonable degree indicate some sort of conflict with the web shield and why the question on other AVs as that too matches the RPC/AAVM errors.

What is your firewall ?
What browser are you using ?
Have you tried a different one ?

What other security applications do you have installed ?

yes, red cirkel is gone.

It must be a Avast problem though everything worked again after I had uninstalled Avast. Then when I did the last install the problem come again, that I coulden´t open some links...

Tryed to open links when the webshield was terminated, no positive results..

My firewall are Microsoft
explorer 7
haven´t tryed any other.
I haven´t installed anything else after upgrading Avast ( Avast has worked very good before with this configuration)

No, it must be an avast problem, simply isn't proven, as I said if there is a conflict between two programs/functions, removing one would resolve the problem. However, what it doesn't do is confirm what the problem is or which of the applications in the conflict is the culprit.

Well the MS firewall (if XP) has no outbound checking so shouldn't get in the way.

It isn't so much what you have installed after avast but what has been installed, how can I know if there might be any possible interaction/conflict, even if this configuration previously worked. If I don't know what is involved, I'm blind and I can't suggest anything.

So even with the web shield terminated you still get the intermittent problem with links, the web shield is the one most related to web links. Even then it doesn't block but scans content and alerts to infection.

I would suggest trying Firefox or Opera browsers to see if the same issue if present.
Can you give some examples of the sites that are blank or nothing happens ?

Hi,
example https://login.live.com are blank, msn - related sites eg. when I click from msn to somewones profil...that site turn also up blank.
http://www.corren.se/ has webtv links that dosen´t function, nothing happens when I click on the links.

Today I got informed that I should have flash9 or later to see a film...I go to the Adobe website and clicked on download..then next site informed me ¨Important Message: You may need to click the gold bar at the top of the browser window to allow the install.¨ The problem was that I didn´t even see the goldbar at the top of the browser...( I didn´t have any problem to see films earlyer, can´t do it now as well..)

Tryed also to insert a smiley in this letter ...but it won´t work..

Well avast doesn't scan https connections as they are secure encrypted, so it shouldn't even be scanning that.

If you are using http port 80 for streaming then this might be the problem, if the stream doesn't completely comply with the HTTP protocol, unfortunately being on dial-up I can't easily test that. I'm using firefox and clicked one of the links under the Webb-TV heading (Prästtomtabor protesterar mot försvarets planer) and that opened up a new window, whilst there is a lot of data transfer going on but no pictures yet. That is most likely the caching to get to a point where has a big enough buffer, so it doesn't look like I can test that.

The new window that pops-up uses a different IP to the normal home page, so you could try adding this IP address (194.14.241.138) to the Web Shield, Customize, Basic tab, Ignored addresses: filed and see if that makes any difference.

From image 2 you can see I just managed to get a little buffered, so it is working for me all be it slowly because of dial-up.

Please start a New Topic of your own as this seems unrelated to the original posters problem (even though the error is the same) and will just confuse the topic and we will try to help.

- Go to this link, http://forum.avast.com/index.php, scroll down to the avast! 4.x Home/Pro forum and click it, click the New Topic button at the top of the list and post there.
