System scan & logging
« on: May 25, 2009, 11:43:08 AM »
When doing a system scan is it possible to set the scanner to just log any possible virus identifications instead of stopping the scan at that point, which is what it does at the moment? I ask this because it takes hours to do the scan on my machine and so I tend to start it last thing at night so it'll run while I'm asleep. It's very frustrating to come to it in the morning and find it halted on a false alert in a temporary or system restore file just 10% into the scan.

false alert in a temporary or system restore file?

Any more details, like what prompted the alert.

a false alert in a temporary or system restore file just 10% into the scan.

-= In that case, just clean up your temporary files to clean it up.. Moreover, system restore files can also be infected since it might, sometimes, back up even the infections..

-= about the dialog box, you may use an EICAR test file [be sure to check the test file first on VirusTotal to see if it is a real test file] & place it on the place nearest to where scanning starts..

Well we don't know if it was a false alert or not as the original poster didn't provided any information to make any judgement.

So the comment by mkis, was more in the form of a question than a statement of fact.
