Automatic Scanning.
« on: May 25, 2009, 11:32:16 PM »
Does anyone know if you can set up the freeAvast Home addition to scan automaticly other than using the screen saver function?
I am totally blind, and I also would like to know if there is any way I can tell that program is scanning in the background.
Any help would be verry much appreciated.

Hi Michael Pyron!

I don't know exactly what you mean, but avast! is designed to permanently scan the files and programs you use!
It is an On-Access-Scanner. This means that it (avast!) scans a file when you open/use it.

To see if the On-Access-Scanner works you can simply click the avast-symbol in the taskbar and click on details...
There you should see that files are being scaned. ;)

Scheduled scanning is not available in the free version. There are a couple of workarounds which work OK. Search for "scheduled scans" in the forum. Here's a few posts found as a result of a forum search. http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=3796.0 http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=43732.0 http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=43315.0

Thanks, I'll try the first link. It sounds like what I  am looking for. Trying to schedule a  scan. I  am using Win 98 Se. Hope it works.
